Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince: 3 stars. Fun and Dark but not enough.

This Harry Potter is the darkest and scariest of the Harry Potter series and for reasons that are obvious to those that have read the book. Now just like the other movies this did not cover A LOT of the book which especially for a book of THIS length left the watcher feeling a little jipped. There's not exactly but in the way of character development except sex hormones for most of the movie whereas in the books there is A LOT of internal maturity going on in many of the characters which we only catch glimpses of in this film. Nonetheless you must make do with what you have and this film did a good job with what it did have. Great CGI and dialogue as usual. Amazing music and acting at it's peak. I've yet to see a film with Helena Bonham Carter that isn't good and where she isn't amazing.

The director did an excellent job at keeping the movie going and keeping the tone dark enough during the entire time that we never stopped bracing ourselves and were always looking for what was next. However in order to do this it felt like someone had filmed the entire book and just completely cut out sections of it with a video editor. There we many scenes in which I felt the transition didn't even happen. It was if they just jumped ahead 4 months and that was supposed to be normal. This movie was 2 and 1/2 hours and it still had to do that just to make it work at all. This movie NEEDED to be put into two separate movies but they relented and made one. BIG mistake and it cost them 2 stars. Go see this movie if you have kids and/or obviously if you've read the Harry Potter books. It's worth seeing but don't expect to see everything from the book. Ease the pain and read the book again after you watch the movie. Then fill in the gaps with your own movie scenes. Needed more Voldermort though. CMON BRO!

Transformers 2: Action packed mindless fun. 3 stars

While the first Transformers wasn't exactly the greatest of films it was quite an interesting film and kept me at least believing in the characters and what they were trying to accomplish. Transformers 2 however did not impress in the slightest as far as that goes. Acting was decent but dialogue was horrid at best and the entire college scene and crazy mother stuff could have just been left out. That alone probably would have gave this movie another half a star.
The action in this movie however was awesome. Simply great. Every moment I wanted to know how the fight would go next and what they would be able to pull out. I was actually surprised at what this movie accomplished as far as CGI fighting and it was so excellent that I couldn't help feeling a little excited and boyish while watching Megatron completely destroy like 3 deceptacons at the same time...suffice to say it was a BADASS movie.
So if you want to have fun and can ignore that talking as either background noise or you can let it go for the fun of the movie than this is a great movie to see. Obviously made for 6th grade - 11th grade boys. Serious fun. If you want an action film with an ending that gives much to consider as far as weighing life and death and good and evil you're seeing the wrong movie and will come away with nothing of the sort. Also, obviously see this is a real theater unless you have an amazing sound system (that is unless you have really sensitive hearing) because the crunching and rockets and everything need that surround sounds and deep bass loudness to be as cool as the CGI is.

Year One - 1 Star. DUMB.

Well here is my review for Year One. Dumb. This movie lacks intelligence and is saddening to watch. What's even worse is that I liked it more than the people I saw it with. To be honest with you the movie had some pretty funny parts to it and Michael Cera is a hilarious guy and plays off Jack Black's stupidity really well. Sadly, one actor being payed millions to do a dumb movie he probably didn't want to do is not enough to make a movie good. Even after throwing in a few cameos like McLovin' and Tobias from Arrested Development. There's just not much here to chew on.

The acting is sub-par, the humor bland and downright offensive as hell at many parts, and the plot about as good as watching a monkey throw poop at a toddler. The previews do not warn you that this movie ACTUALLY takes these men through different events of the Bible for the most part and completely degrade and offensively portray them at every turn they can. Some parts were funny because they didn't blaspheme God but merely posed the question, "Hey what the hell was up with that anyways?" I'm cool with that. The circumcision joke was a little low brow but pretty funny to someone who reads the other stories of the bible on circumcision. Most of the jokes landed flat and ended up just being not funny or having no punch to them at all.

Let me just sum it up for you now. If you like movies that bash religion and make a joke of them then this is your movie. If you like comedy movies a lot you should maybe Torrent this movie or rent it for cheap. Otherwise you would spend your time better doing any of these things: 1. Watching any other movie, 2. Actually studying the bible and figuring out what all parts you don't understand mean, 3. ANYTHING ELSE, 4. Kill yourself.

That's all for this episode of Kalz-o-tron's movie reviews.

UP - 5 Stars! See it again and again!

This is my first review and because this is the first I will explain how I will probably review movies compared to professional reviewers. I will not comment much on personal actors and will keep most reviews much shorter than usual reviews are. I am very open minded to all typed of movies but am enough of a snob to know a bad movie when I see it. I'm a very rational and reasoned person so don't expect me to go extreme one way or the other. I will always give a final verdict and will never spoil a movie for a reader. I grade on a 5 star scale. So without further adieu I give you UP.

For being an animated film I honestly did not expect to love this movie. However, I found myself drawn into this movie more than many movies I've watched in awhile. I saw UP in 3D (REAL D to be accurate) and it adds much more depth to the quality of animation this movie has.

The great animation is not the key to this movie's success however, the key is that this movie will touch every string your heart has in every way and do with it what it will if you go along for the ride. I was almost brought to tears, I laughed, I smiled, I enjoyed myself. UP is a family friendly film that will go along with Finding Nemo and Toy Story in the top animated films of all time. This film truly has depth and plot that digs at the questions of death, mentors, friends, ageism, modern industrialism, and ignorance.

If you want to have a good time and aren't too uptight about kid type movie then GO SEE THIS! If you are too cool for school then skip and save the rest of the people in the theater some grief. This movie gets 5 stars for being the best in its class and a triumph that will warm your heart.
